5th Gear
5th Gear
Like his friend Vince Gill, Brad Paisley has achieved the often-difficult feat of reconciling being an entertainer and world-class guitarist. He's proven that on four admirable albums, and 5th Gear follows in that vein. Certainly "Ticks," an airy, radio-friendly ditty, is not the true substance here. That comes with such superior fare as the insightful "All I Wanted Was a Car" and "Online," a sly satire of people's Web facades. While his duet with Carrie Underwood ("Oh Love") is a bit cut and dried, Paisley ably handles "Letter to Me," "It Did," and "Mr. Policeman," a 21st-century outrun-the-law tune. The closing hymn, "When We All Get to Heaven," and ripping instrumental "Throttleneck" are Paisley at his best. It's admirable that he invites his venerable buddies, Little Jimmy Dickens, George Jones, Vince Gill, and Bill Anderson, along with Dolly Parton, to join in, but the obligatory "Kung Pao Buckaroos" skit is wearing a bit thin. Better to feature them musically, the way he includes Dickens, Gill, and Anderson on "Bigger Fish to Fry." In a time where lines between county and pop are blurring far too much, it's comforting to know Paisley still realizes and respects the differences. --Rich Kienzle
Customer Review: Top Gear
Just when you think he can't get better, Paisley surpasses your expectations. There is no song on this album which would not be a hit single. The power and subtlety of his guitar work and the charming corniness of his humor have only improved. It is impossible not to salute the relentless pursuit of perfection, especially when it is combined with humor and humility.
Customer Review: Wow
He continues to blow me away. Brad is an excellent guitarist. Fun lyrics. Just basically makes me happy when I hear his music.

Customer Review: Please make it PG-13
This is definitely Scary. For young children this movie is way too scary and my kids don't freak to easily.
I can see how others like it. But becareful how you intriduce it to your child.
Customer Review: Bad movie for young kids!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mr. Timothy Lee-you should be ashamed to let your 4 year old watch this movie over and over. This movie crosses many lines of cartoon and horror flick. Compared to the other Scooby movies, this is more graphic and not quite so much fun. It is fine for teens and up, but get real. This shouldn't be a movie called a 'family' movie, and you should be doing the responsible thing and knowing what is OK and what isn't for young children to watch. Your 4 year old relies on you to be his parent-so be one!
Star Wars - Episode I, The Phantom Menace
Star Wars - Episode I, The Phantom Menace
"I have a bad feeling about this," says the young Obi-Wan Kenobi (played by Ewan McGregor) in Star Wars: Episode I, The Phantom Menace as he steps off a spaceship and into the most anticipated cinematic event... well, ever. He might as well be speaking for the legions of fans of the original episodes in the Star Wars saga who can't help but secretly ask themselves: Sure, this is Star Wars, but is it my Star Wars? The original elevated moviegoers' expectations so high that it would have been impossible for any subsequent film to meet them. And as with all the Star Wars movies, The Phantom Menace features inexplicable plot twists, a fistful of loose threads, and some cheek-chewing dialogue. Han Solo's swagger is sorely missed, as is the pervading menace of heavy-breathing Darth Vader. There is still way too much quasi-mystical mumbo jumbo, and some of what was fresh about Star Wars 22 years earlier feels formulaic. Yet there's much to admire. The special effects are stupendous; three worlds are populated with a mélange of creatures, flora, and horizons rendered in absolute detail. The action and battle scenes are breathtaking in their complexity. And one particular sequence of the film--the adrenaline-infused pod race through the Tatooine desert--makes the chariot race in Ben-Hur look like a Sunday stroll through the park.
Among the host of new characters, there are a few familiar walk-ons. We witness the first meeting between R2-D2 and C-3PO, Jabba the Hutt looks younger and slimmer (but not young and slim), and Yoda is as crabby as ever. Natalie Portman's stately Queen Amidala sports hairdos that make Princess Leia look dowdy and wields a mean laser. We never bond with Jedi Knight Qui-Gon Jinn (Liam Neeson), and Obi-Wan's day is yet to come. Jar Jar Binks, a cross between a Muppet, a frog, and a hippie, provides many of the movie's lighter moments, while Sith Lord Darth Maul is a formidable force. Baby-faced Anakin Skywalker (Jake Lloyd) looks too young and innocent to command the powers of the Force or wield a lightsaber (much less transmute into the future Darth Vader), but his boyish exuberance wins over skeptics.
Near the end of the movie, Palpatine, the new leader of the Republic, may be speaking for fans eagerly awaiting Episode II when he pats young Anakin on the head and says, "We will watch your career with great interest." Indeed! --Tod Nelson
Customer Review: Huge Star Wars fan.... wildly disappointed.
So, this review is long-overdue, and I'm sure it's been said before:
Why did Mr. Lucas have to take, what started out as a well acted, fun series, and prequel it with this garbage?
First of all, I should say that Liam Neeson and Ewan McGreggor were excellent in this film. Darth Maul was an ultra cool villain. The graphics were quite cool, and probably cutting edge. However...
1) Jar Jar Binks might be one of the biggest mistakes in recent memory. I think GL was trying to recapture a Chewbacca-like character..... but FAILED MISERABLY. AWFUL. It actually polluted the entire movie for me - I felt like I was watching a made-for-TV Disney kids movie. Hideous mistake.
2) Darth Maul had the potential of being a GREAT foe, for the duration of the movie. Instead, he engages in a couple of really great fights, then gets killed.
3) Instead of seeing more of Darth Maul, we are forced to suffer through the cutsy-wootsy little Anakin Skywalker. Yes, establish his innocence, before his turn to the dark side, but really..... it was too much.
4) The droids were absolutely unbelievable. Their speech was unrealistic, and they occasionally seemed to have a sense of humor that was like watching two computer geeks talk to each other. It seems like they tried to stick to the sterotype of how a robot might work, but then threw in a cute little spin to it - - - it made them unbelievable.
5) What's with all the racial stereotyping? The alien guys that look like fish have unaltered Asian accents? Why? Why does the water-going rastafarian-wannabe Jar Jar Binks have a Jamaican accent? Why do the Jedi's have british accents? It looks like GL spent too much time wanting accents, and not enough time working them out. It's kind of offensive.
In conclusion, if it weren't for Jar Jar Binks, this movie would be quite worthy of the Star Wars name. If it weren't for all the hype about this super-villain, Darth Maul (who was so easily dispatched), when the movie came out, it would be far cooler. This movie isn't worthy of the Star Wars name.

Customer Review: A good basic guide
Far better than the Chilton's equivalent, this Haynes guides focuses on a small enough "slice" of models and years to allow it to get some decent detail. Far from perfect, of course, but a decent guide for the money. (Since the Volvo manual is a four-digit proposition, it's a reasonable trade-off.)
Customer Review: Nuts and Bolts -Volvo 850 Series '93'97 (Haynes Manuals)
Just what you have come to expect from Haynes/Chilton. This is a pretty thorough overview of the Volvo 850's systems, maintenance, and repair. It is not as thorough as some more expensive maintenance manuals. But it will get you through most procedures. If you get stumped, there are plenty of Volvo forums and user groups out there to fill in the fine details.
All in all, it is a great starting point for maintaining your own car. Just remember that you will have to fo somewhere else for fine detail.

Itsy Bitsy Spider: Lift the Flap
Books & DVDs Lamaze This adorable board book features the classic nursery rhyme ""Itsy Bitsy Spider"". Babies will enjoy the rhyme and verse. There are even instructions on how to do the classic hand rhyme.
Customer Review: My son loves this book!
I have yet to find a Lamaz book that I didn't like. They are bright and fun to read. My son can't get enough of this book.
Customer Review: Our favorite version ! Full of laughs & giggles
Like I said in the title, this book by far is our favorite version of Itsy Bitsy Spider! And what the photo doesn't show is a soft black spider with big puffy eyes and a huge smile! The spider is attached to the book with a long ( but not too long) black cord and attaches to the second page via velcro.
Margaret Spengler did an awesome job illustrating this book and making all of the insects so friendly looking. And true to form it's the original version we all know and love of the Itsy, Bitsy Spider. What is unique is that on each page other than the 1st page is a lift the flap. On the " Washed the spider out page" there is a little bug holding up his hand like one does when they though they felt a drop of rain. But when you lift the flap that same insect is there but is now wearing a mask and snorkle. On the "Out came the Sun" page shows a leaf with a few droplets on it and then when you lift the flap you see a bug wearing tennis shoes and is getting ready to start eatting an ice cream cone sitting in a lawn chair! And on the " dried on up " page all you see on the flap is a leaf floating onto of the water, a small paper boat and a pair of eyes somehow that are above the water. When you lift this flap you then see a smiling snail with the leaf & paper boat. And on the last page you finally get to see the happy spider peering out from the waterspout and has made it to the top! The next 2 pages shows you how to do the fingerplay, so you can sing and do the fingerplay after reading this story.
My daughter has always giggled while being read this and still at 2 1/2 does not tire of this silly story!

Customer Review: Classic Disney Movie
I love Aladdin I first saw it when my brother was very little. I think that you can't go wrong with a Disney Movie. I love this movie and cant tell you how many times I have watched it and still have the excitement of it being the first time I love this tale and the best part is that the color is bright not like the VHS.
Customer Review: The Best
Aladdin is probably the best cartoon movie ever made. It is the story of a young man who tries to win the hand of an Arabian princess with the help of a genie. There are conflicts with an evil vizier who tries to gain the genie's power and destroy Aladdin. Action packed, fast paced, many twists and turns in the plot, fantastic animation (the old fashion kind), great music, romance, and humor. Great characters. Even like the villains. In short, this movie has it all. And strangely, this movie has more heart than the vast majority of so-called Romanic movies. As an adult, I hate to admit it, but this is among my favorite movies. It also makes a great gift for children.
